Rugby's Strangest Matches

Finito nuovo libro: Rugby's Strangest Matches - Extraordinary but true stories from over a century of rugby, di John Griffiths.

Unfortunately, an error in translation led to the Romanians greatly overstimating the quality of their English opponents. As a result, the Dorchester boys arrived for their 11 a.m. kick-off only to find that the venue was the National Stadium, that an expectant crowd of thousands had turned up and that the match was to be broadcast live on Romanian television. Their opponents, moreover, were Romania's crack club side, Steaua Bucharest. The hosts fielded half-a-dozen full international players as well as the captain of the Romanian national side.
